US-based ExxonMobil plans to expand its industrial lubricant business in Indonesia, targeting oil and gas producers as its main customers to help them improve productivity and prevent unplanned shutdowns.
ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties Company’s global business development advisor Glen Sharkowicz said Thursday that Indonesia was a very attractive target market for the company’s Mobil SHC synthetic industrial lubricants because of the country’s commitment to boost the development of its oil and gas industry in the future.
“Like what Vice President [Boediono] said yesterday [Wednesday] that Indonesia will focus on developing its gas resources. We expect to see more explorations to come. Demand for industrial lubricants is projected to increase also,” he told The Jakarta Post during an exclusive interview session on the sidelines of the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) 35th Annual Convention and Conference at the Jakarta Convention Center.
Sharkowicz said that currently ExxonMobil had six distributors in Indonesia to help sell its lubricants, which included lubricants for alternative uses such as power generation and manufacturing, which were its target markets for its industrial lubricants
